The King and Queen !

Wedding Diary

Congratulation!!!!

Well, I managed to give my E1 a spin as a wedding camera this weekend. One thing I discovered from the wedding is, you need to work fast, and I mean Fast with a capital F. In my honest opinion, and as much as I love my E1, I have to admit. E1 fails in two places, focusing speed and high ISO performance. Of the two, the former one is the most crucial.

I found most of the picture are out of focus if the subject is moving, this can be attributed to the low light condition, which tends to exacerbate the "hunting" behaviour. Upping high ISO is a big no no for Olympus. My FL36 Flash is just too weak for weddings, the recharge time is too slow. My mentor was using the Nikon flagship camera, guest what... the £2.5K D2X. It makes you cry, when you see how fast it can focus. Fast and accurate, or more appropriately, fast and furious.

High ISO is the Canon domain. I hate flash, it makes the whole scene looks so "amaturish", you know, the starry eye type, like a deer caught in the middle of the highway, sorry, too American , or more precise, like a badger or fox caught in the motorway. :)

Now, let me think, which camera should I get if I have unlimited £££££, assuming I win the forthcoming Thunderball draw???? ( Mathematically speaking, my chance of winning is zero since I never play the game anyway) Nikon D2X or Canon 1DS Mark 2, grrrr... dream, dream.... STOP DREAMING.
