Softbox !!!! Home Studio.

Hey look 100cm x100cm softbox, captured at slow shutter speed. Looks like a large, large light to me. :) This one is equipped with an inner baffle, hence very soft light. Woops! 400ws analogue strobe tuned to 1/8 power. I have another strobe (digital), 600ws. Ummm, I am thinking that is just too powerful for my usage, better exchange it for lower power strobes. However, it is capable of tuning down to 1/16 of the power, unlike the previous where 1/8 is the minimum.

100cm x 100cm is consider to be a medium soft box. I have another box, 140cm x 70 cm, this is for full lenght portrait. 180mm x 180cm can be deemed as a large soft box, used for taking photos of a super car. :) Now that is big. The biggest soft box can be found in cloudy days, the clouds are acting like a giant baffle.

Not W but Ws. If it is 400Ws, you need to see the flash speed (t0.5), most are around 1/800 s above. So for 400x800=320000W, that is a lot of energy at split second. My 600ws runs at 1/1200s minimum to a max of 1/4000s. Now, you know how powerful it is. :) Two 600ws can light up more than half a basketball court.

In strobe photography, the shutter speed is not used to capture motion instead one uses the flash speed. So the faster your flash, the more it can capture motion.
