Kuan Yin after Conversion

This an improved conversion, the clouds seems weird, this is because of blown highlight and posterisation from the original file. I attempted to mitigat the posterisation effect, in other words to make it less conspicuous, by clonning some clouds in the vicinity and overlay them on top, simulating some texture. Be careful not to loose any details in highlights if possible in the near future. Copy the Kuan Yin, feathering, into another layer and change the mood to soft light. Try to do it with overlay and multiply modes. Change the opacity to suite your taste. Finally remember to add an 'S' curve to increase the overall contrast of the scene, "O la la".

It's seems to very hard to master the s curve. I don't understand a thing about it. I jus simply tweak to get the tone which is plesant to my eyes.

Curve is just a function, for mapping a series of tones (your current image) (x axis) into another tones (your future image)(y-axis). If you try using a new curve, it always starts as a linear function. This means that the tones are mapping one to one, (multiplying with 1) no changes. When you change the shape of the curve, you remap the tone, that's all about it. It is actually easier to "play" with it than reading this.
